Why it’s required
Electrical safety checks are required every two years in Victorian rentals.
Victorian rental providers must arrange an electrical safety check of all electrical installations, fittings and appliances by a licensed or registered electrician at least once every two years.
If the last check was more than two years ago when a new tenancy begins, the check must be arranged as soon as practicable, and the date of the most recent check must be disclosed to the renter on request.
