Why it’s required
Gas safety checks are required every two years in Victorian rentals.
Victorian rental providers must arrange a gas safety check of all gas installations, fittings and appliances by a licensed or registered gasfitter at least once every two years.
If the last check was more than two years ago when a new tenancy begins, it must be arranged as soon as practicable. Carbon monoxide testing is a critical part of the check for open-flued heaters.
